Summer LIGHT!

Please take a few minutes to reflect on your learning today. Reflection is key to professional growth.

“Experienced teachers need time for
reflection and collaboration with other teachers so that they can envision technology use in relation to their established practices in multiple contexts” (Pierson).

We will use your feedback to make changes and plan for future follow-up. Hope you are finding web page design to be fun and purposeful for extending classroom learning.

What do you need in regards to tech skills before you leave this week to feel equipped for the next school year?
Dianna and Jane :)

Before next year, I want the tools to set up my website to be as interactive as possible for students, other teachers, and parents. I want to provide as many resources as possible for my students so that in the event of an absence (or review), they would be able to "help themselves."

The future LIGHT participants need to be aware that the more questions they ask, the better they will be!

LIGHT is great and worthwhile. My only concern is really for Dianna, Jane, and Ray...The future LIGHTers are going to be those who have not voluntarily selected to be a part of this awesome experience. I would anticipate some very relunctant, hard-headed, obstant future candidates.
Just an FYI!

I feel more confident now to assist
students in their powerpoint,
publisher and digital storytelling. What we've learned will be of use not
only to me personally, but also
as a "techivities" for the students.
It was a great course. The more
hands-on time, the better. I need ractice!

I loved LIGHT. I am shocked by those individuals who lack the motivation to expand their technological capabilities. We are constantly asking our students to raise the bar but often times teachers are unwilling to do the same. If anything, LIGHT was a humbling experience. I think that the LIGHT experience has helped me step into the shoes of my students by being the student instead of the teacher. Jane, Dianna, and Ray ROCK!!

I have so much I want to do that I get frustrated -- because I haven't thought through enough items and ideas. I think my "passenger" mentality has caused me not to examine a website, for instance, for appeal and content. Couple that with lack of skill and . . .

Another note, the "m&m" Eexcel xercise also brought home how much not figuring out how to use causes "lose." Or not WHAT I will do with it means "lose it." I did this activity in Tech. Academy in 2003 but had no memory. Fortunately, I am a bit more adept now PLUS Diana pointed out a practical use for Excel. During the Power Writing workshop, Shirley discussed sentence word-counting and charting. BINGO!!
Anonymously,
Ann

Summer LIGHT 2 has been a very worthwhile experience. I have been able to update items and learn how to use other technological devices. Everything will benefit the kids. I do think the marathon sessions are beneficial. Being able to focus on the projects at hand without interruptions is very important. Let's continue to see the LIGHT!! :)
